Rules and regulations of the college and students’ discipline

Announcements,Notices
  1. Identity cards should be worn in college campus and in classrooms/ laboratory/ library/ canteen by all students.
  2. When a student misbehaves or violates college rules, his or her ID card will be held by members of the Discipline Committee till the issue is investigated and solved.
  3. The use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in classrooms, libraries, laboratories and corridors of the college.
  4. Students are required to conserve electricity and water. Students should turn off lights and fans when they leave a class room or laboratory.
  5. The college expects students to wear simple, clean and neat clothing. Students must conform to the institution’s strict modesty standards. They should avoid wearing gaudy clothes .
  6. It is imperative that students do not bring discredit to the college or themselves. We will take harsh action against insubordination and rude behavior on campus and outside.
  7. Attending classes and participating in all college activities should be a regular and punctual practice. Students must get the permission of the principal before entering or leaving the classroom during class hours.
  8. As soon as the teacher enters the class, students should stand up and wish him/her. It is expected that students take their seats only after the teacher does so or instructs them to do so.
  9. It is important to maintain strict silence in the classrooms, library, laboratories, exam halls and on college premises during class hours.
  10. The college expects students to take care of the property and maintain a neat and clean environment. A breach of discipline such as demolishing walls, doors, or breaking furniture will not be tolerated.
  11. Students are forbidden from organizing any meeting in the college premises or collecting money for any purpose without the permission of the principal
  12. Visitors are not permitted in the college during working hours.
  13. No student should enter an office, staff room, or computer lab without permission.
  14. A student should be sincere in taking the monthly tests and model tests that are part of the curriculum. They should not engage in any type of examination malpractice.
  15. A student who engages in eve-teasing will be expelled from the college.
  16. Raging is prohibited inside and outside the college campus. Those students found indulging in ragging will be expelled from the college. In accordance with the guidelines provided by the UGC and university, students found guilty of participating in or abetment in ragging will be subject to severe punishment that may include cancellation of admission, a fine up to Rs.25000 or a strict 3 year jail term.
  17. It is the student’s responsibility to comply with the current rules and regulations as well as any other rules prescribed by the college. Therefore, strict discipline has become the watchword of the college in the interest of the students.
  18. Helmets are required for students riding two-wheelers. They should possess a valid driver’s license. The vehicle must be parked only in the designated spots.

The following activities shall be deemed as acts of indiscipline:

  1. Disruption or improper interference with the academic, administrative, sporting, social, or other activities of the institution, whether on or off the institute’s premises
  2. Abusing other students and faculty members and causing a nuisance on this institute’s campus; Disturbing the peace and preventing students and faculty from exercising their independent rights;
  3. Behaviour or language that is violent, indecent, disorderly, threatening, or offensive, on the college premises; or during any activity conducted by the college or on behalf of.
  4. A fraud, deceit, deception, dishonesty or theft involving this institute or its staff;
  5. Any action likely to cause sexual harassment or racial harassment of students, employees, or authorized visitors to this institute;
  6. College property damage or defacement caused intentionally or recklessly, or misappropriation of this property, which includes damage to library books, resources, furniture, file cabinets, walls, doors, windows, white boards, tables and chairs by writing names, painting or scribbling;
  7. Misuse or unauthorized use of the institute premises or items of property, including computer misuse;
  8. Participating directly or indirectly in vitiating the atmosphere of the Institute by mass absenteeism or boycott; Threatening, physically interfering or using any other methods to prevent students from attending classes;
  9. Consuming drugs, alcohol, or engaging in any other activity which may be construed as a social crime;

Request to Parents/Guardians

We strongly recommend that parents stay in touch with the college authorities periodically for information on their wards’ attendance, academic progress, conduct, etc. College admission does not relieve parents of their responsibility for their children’s education. It is their responsibility to observe the progress of the students in their studies and their general behaviour within and outside of the college. Only the authorized persons (including parents) are permitted to visit their wards

  1. Laboratory Rules
  2. Safety symbols and cautions should always be heeded in experimental investigations, hand-outs, posted in the room, and verbally communicated by instructors.
  3. Avoid skin and eye contact with any chemicals.
  4. Consider chemicals of unknown toxicity to be highly toxic.
  5. Chemical containers should never be left open.
  6. Chemicals should never be tasted or sniffed.
  7. Wash exposed areas of the skin prior to leaving the laboratory.
  8. Understand the possible hazards before starting any practical.
  9. Avoid pouring chemicals down drains. Do not dispose of chemical waste in the sewer.
  10. Laboratory coats should not be stored in offices as this spread contaminates other areas.
  11. Be sure to tell your faculty or lab attendant about spills as soon as they occur.
  12. Performing unauthorized experiments or using materials and equipment outside of their intended uses is prohibited.
  13. No food, drinks or chewing gum is allowed in the laboratory.
  14. Electrical equipment should be handled with caution.
  15. After each investigation, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  16. Do not work near water while using electricity. Make sure the floor and all surfaces are dry.
  17. Do not taste chemicals or touch them with your bare hands.
  18. Remove loose jewellery, secure loose clothing, and tie back long hair to avoid them getting caught in moving or rotating parts or coming into contact with hazardous chemicals.
  19. Be sure to wear eye protection when performing this experiment. Swinging objects are potentially dangerous.
  20. Handle vertebrates with gloves.
  21. Games and chatting are not permitted in the lab
  22. Each student is responsible for their assigned systems and should only use those assigned to them.
  23. It is the student’s responsibility to pay for any damage he/she causes to the system, either software or hardware.
  24. Permission should be obtained for students to use (Pen drives/CDs) in the lab.
  25. Students are not allowed to write on the walls or tables.
  26. Make sure the chairs are arranged properly before leaving the lab.

College Library Rules

  1. Students have access to the college library from 9am to 5pm. The library remains closed on all holidays.
  2. While entering the library, students should sign in the log book.
  3. Under the library card system, first-year degree students can borrow two books, second- and third-year students can borrow three books, and postgraduate students can borrow four books at a time.
  4. The borrowed books can be kept by students for a maximum of two weeks from the date of issue. They must return them at the end of the period.
  5. In the case of a student not returning a book on time, a fine of Re.1/- per day will be levied for the first week; the second week is fined Rs.2/- per day of delay and after the second week the full cost of the book will have to be paid.
  6. Even if the loan period is not expired, the librarian can recall any book at any time.
  7. The college will not accept absences from college as an excuse to delay the return of books.
  8. Reference books will not be lent out.
  9. The books should be handled with extreme care. The borrower must replace a lost or damaged book or pay double the cost of the book if the book is damaged or lost.
  10. It is forbidden to mark, underline, or annotate books whether already soiled or not. In the event that a book has been damaged, it will be reported to the principal for disciplinary action.
  11. A book’s last borrower shall be held responsible for any effects the borrower did not indicate when he/she borrowed and returned.
  12. Renewing the books after two weeks will not be permitted.
  13. The library will remain to be closed during vacation.
  14. Respect the library’s environment by observing strict silence and decorum. In addition, librarians must notify the principal when any student damages books, makes inappropriate noise, or improperly dresses or misbehaves in the library.
  15. Any questions or complaints should be directed first to the librarian, who will, if necessary, refer them to the principal.
  16. Upon completing the course or at the time of leaving the college, the books and cards should be returned to the college library. Payment of all dues should be made.
  17. The librarian is the final authority in the matter of issuing and collecting books from students.

Attendance and Leave of Absence

  1. According to the rule followed by Mumbai University (MU), students need 75% attendance in every semester in order to eligible for their semester exams.
  2. Those who are absent from class when attendance is taken will be marked absent
  3. The absence in one or more lecture/s will be marked as absent for the whole day.
  4. If an absence is unforeseen, an application for leave should be submitted as soon as possible, no later than the first day of return.
  5. Students who avail leave due to illness must submit a medical certificate signed by a registered physician. The said certificate should be submitted well in advance before resuming the class.
  6. A student will not be granted leave during monthly tests and model examinations unless the principal is convinced that there are compelling reasons for it.
  7. A minimum of 75% of attendance is compulsory.
